London’s reputation as a global fashion capital gets put on display every year during London Fashion Week, returning this September (17-21) with in-person events hosted for the first time in more than a year. That pandemic pause has prompted many shoppers to rethink the sustainability of trend-obsessed fashion and dig deeper into environmental harms and worker exploitation that’s, unfortunately, central to the industry.
Of course, finding brands that match your style, size, budget, and values and are genuinely ethical and sustainable can be challenging. How can you know if the brands on your radar are really as sustainable as they claim? What goes on behind the price tag? And when you add to that the growing interest in buying local and supporting communities at home, well, that’s when things can start to get messy.
But fear not, we’re here to help! Good On You has made it our mission to help you find the very best sustainable fashion brands from around the world. Today, we’re looking out for all the Londoners thinking of transitioning to a more sustainable wardrobe.
Here we’re shining a spotlight on 16 ethical and sustainable clothing brands from London that are all rated ‘Good’ or ‘Great’ by our first-class methodology. In the list, you’ll find both accessories and clothing labels that all cater to different styles, including womenswear and menswear, streetwear, and even a couple more luxurious options. As a bonus, we also included two London-based retailers that stock some of our favourite ethical designers!
If you’re keeping an eye on London Fashion Week, watch out for BEEN London, Edeline Lee, FANFARE, and GROUNDTRUTH—all sustainable brands participating in this season’s events.
